Lamontville Golden Arrows midfielder Jonah Fabisch has been named in Zimbabwe's provisional squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The call-up was confirmed on Tuesday by Zimbabwe coach Ramon Catala ahead of matches against Equatorial Guinea.

Fabisch, who has 12 senior caps, is one of four Premier Soccer League players selected. He joins Daniel Msendami of Marumo Gallants, Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya from AmaZulu, and TS Galaxy's Junior Zindoga. "He’s one of four PSL players in the squad, including Daniel Msendami (Marumo Gallants), Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya (AmaZulu), and Junior Zindoga (TS Galaxy)," Catala said.

The 22-year-old is still awaiting his competitive debut for Abafana Bes’thende after joining the club in August. An injury sustained in training has delayed his introduction to the first team. He also missed Zimbabwe's recent qualifiers against Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo due to fitness issues.

His national team selection comes as Lamontville Golden Arrows look to build on their current league position. The club sits 8th in the Premier Soccer League with 8 points from 8 matches, having recorded one win, five draws and two losses. Their recent form shows one win, two draws and one defeat from the last four outings. The team's recent results include a 4-0 win over Chippa United on Saturday, 24 October, a 0-1 loss to Milford FC on Saturday, 17 October, a 0-0 draw with Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, 20 September, and a 1-1 draw with Siwelele on Sunday, 13 September. This leaves them 15 points behind league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns in the title race.

Arrows head into a key local derby against 3rd-placed Amazulu on Saturday, 31 October. The team will be aiming to carry momentum from their last result, a 4-0 victory over Chippa United, into that tough away fixture. In that emphatic win, goals came from J. Dion, S. Sithole, N. Zwane, and J. Karelse. The team has scored 3 goals and conceded 4 across the season so far.

Fabisch's inclusion provides a positive individual story amid the squad's broader campaign. The 32-man Zimbabwe squad is captained by the experienced Marvelous Nakamba and includes overseas-based players like Wolverhampton Wanderers duo Tawanda Chirewa and Marshall Munetsi.
