Lamontville Golden Arrows FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Siwelele FC in the Betway Premiership on Sunday. The result extends their unbeaten run to two matches and keeps them in seventh place in the league standings.
Philani Khumalo opened the scoring for the visitors four minutes into the second half. "Opened the scoring for the visitors after a Ronaldo Van Neel lofted cross," Khumalo said. Siwelele responded with an acrobatic volley to level the score just after the hour mark.
Arrows thought they had retaken the lead when Thabiso Sesane prodded the ball home, but the effort was disallowed for a foul in the build-up. "Had prodded in a ball that goalkeeper Thakusani Mbanjwa had dropped but was ruled to have committed a foul in the build-up," Sesane explained. Nhlanhla Zwane later forced a save from the Siwelele goalkeeper, and Khumalo saw a mishit cross strike the crossbar.
With the point, Golden Arrows now have seven points from their opening six Premier Soccer League fixtures. Their recent form reads two wins, one draw, and two defeats from the last five outings. The team's next challenge is to turn these draws into wins as they aim for a top-six finish.
